"Art" #1, 1998

The literary section of this issue of "ART" is opened by poems written by the Estonian poetess Nelly Melts, the chief editor of the journal "Tallinn". Her subtle lyrics undoubtedly adorns this issue of the journal. Komi prose is represented by the novel of the known writer Egor Rochev "Faster than the Reindeer". This novel is a new contribution to the popular series of stories about a boy living in the tundra. Some time ago this series was translated into many languages of the former Soviet Union. In the section "Zyrjanskiye Studii" the key articles are the joint work by I.Ilyina and O.Ulyashov "Magic of Love and Love Magic" and "Two Terms of the Komi Mythology" by V.V.Napolskikh, a well known researcher from Izhevsk. In the new heading "Ethnoarchives" the reader can find works by Finnish ethnographers U.Holnberg and U.T.Sirenius published in the Rusian language for the first time. In the "Art-fact" section one can read the material by the art critic I.Kotyleva "Just only a Part of the Big World", devoted to the creative work of the artist I.Fedosova. There are also reviews of literary works published in the Republic of Komi in 1996.
