"Art" #4, 1999

The new literature of the Komi Republic is represented by two works of a young author A. Arteev: "Progulka" ("A promenade"), written in not traditional for the republic's prose genre of cento, and the beginning of a story "Poezdka v Katmandu" ("Two one-way tickets to Katmandu"), which is interesting by its composition structure of diary colloquy. Two absolutely different poets are presented in the magazine. One of them is Hungarian poet Ishtvan Balog, whose verses are marked with imagery of late surrealism. The other poetess is Zoja Shilikova with her traditional verses, based on Komi lyric songs. Due to this fact many of her poems are put to the music.

In the new section called "Interpretation" a reader can get an acquaintance with literary interpretations of one of the most mysterious Komi legends' plots about the fortunate hunter Jirkap-the-Giant. Why people want to kill their hero? This question is raised in the legends and there we can probably find the answer. Due to this fact the question is interesting to the writer.

The section called "Culture ecosphere" consists of articles, illuminating problems of culture values ecology. 0. Kublitsky, a lyceum teacher, summing up his pedagogical experience in the article called "Etica kak osoznannaya neobhodimost" ("Ethics as an acknowledged necessity"), unexpectedly realizes that the ethics is based on the mythology. N. Slepchina's article called "Ot tebja i hula - pohvala" ("Even your punishment is like a compliment") is devoted to the problems of upbringing, especially to the traditional punishment in a Komi peasant family. Growing up problems in a folk culture are discussed in S. Adonieva's article where she shows a Russian family as an example. S. Juravlev tells us about a unique experiment in the Syktyvkar Art school - first aesthetics classes. In the "Studii" section a reader can find works of Finno-Ugric literature researchers: V. Limerova (Syktyvkar) and V. Shibanov (Udmurtia). Limerova's article is devoted to folklore context. V. Shibanov writes about a new style in the Finno-Ugric literatures - ethnofuturism. In the section called "Art-fact" our art researcher I. Kotyleva presents works of an original artist with an unusual pseudonym "An insider".
